Bad knees

February 26, 2021
Asked by: peanut
Wanted to know where I should go to look at my knees which seem to be getting worse. I'm not overweight and I actually work out 3-4 times a week. Lately my left knee has gotten weak (i guess that's the word). Is this a massage thing? Or chiropractor thing? I think I need to see someone. thx for any help.

In the absence of direct trauma/injury to the knee, knee pain most commonly arises from dysfunction of the joints/muscles above or below the knee. I recommend seeing a chiropractor or other health professional who can determine the underlying cause. In these cases, rehab exercises are typically the most appropriate form of treatment. Manual therapy, orthotics, acupuncture, etc. - or some combination of these - might also be appropriate therapies to consider.

I would recommend getting assessed and diagnosed by a chiropractor and they can recommend appropriate treatment based on what they find.

This may not actually be a problem with your knee(s). I suggest an assessment to determine where the root cause is.

Knee pain can be the result of many issues - perhaps there was an injury, or some wear and tear from your exercise, or perhaps arthritis could be a factor. These things all depend on age, family history and how you are experiencing symptoms. As a naturopath, I do tons of pain management in my practice. If bloodwork needs to be done to investigate, so be it, then we can use acupuncture, diet, herbs, supplements and hydrotherapy in the combination that works best for you. Try an ND! :)
