WHAT IS CHILDREN’S HEALTH?

As a parent, you understand that to keep your children healthy, you need to provide them with the basics:

  • Give them healthy foods for nourishment
  • Make sure they get enough sleep and exercise
  • Ensure their safety
  • Provide a hearty, healthy and loving atmosphere

There are many aspects of children's health. A healthy child's development begins with healthy parents including:

  • Before conception with the parents' health;
  • Continues on to conception;
  • Through the prenatal period;
  • Once the baby is delivered, there are new matters to address.

A baby grows and changes at an astonishing rate, becomes a toddler, next a child and after a few years enters adolescence. The entire journey from conception to adolescence is a busy and challenging period for both, child and parent.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES AND SYMPTOMS OF CHILDREN’S HEALTH?

Even the healthiest of children can get sick. As a parent, it is worth knowing the signs and symptoms of common childhood illnesses as well as the treatment and prevention of these illnesses. Few common childhood conditions include:

  • Infections
  • Common cold
  • Common cuts
  • Burns
  • Accidental swallowing
  • Breathing problems

These are just a few common conditions, the list is extensive. Parents must ensure a child's environment is made as safe as it possibly can be, while exercising continued watch on young children especially.

All children’s diseases have their own particular symptoms but these are a few common symptoms

  • Fever
  • Fussiness
  • Congestion
  • Nasal discharge
  • Cough
  • Loss of appetite

These mild conditions come and go without interfering with a child’s growth and development but there are some health conditions that affect every moment of a child’s life interfering with their daily routine, growth and development. These are called chronic health conditions.

A child suffering from a chronic illness may require more intervention and intensive and/or extensive medical care. Some of the chronic health conditions are:

  • Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Sickle cell anemia
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Cancer
  • AIDS
  • Epilepsy
  • Spina bifida
  • Congenital heart problems

Children with chronic illnesses need more care and understanding as they feel different than other children. Their activities are limited, their hospital visits are frequent and their treatments are painful to watch as a parent. Chronic illness doesn’t just affect the child, it affects the entire family.

In addition to your child's physical well-being, as a parent, you should also exercise caution about your child's behavior, their mental and emotional health. As children get older and more independent, their chances of developing these disorders increase:

  • Eating disorders
  • Substance abuse
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Bullying
  • Depression
  • Nightmares
  • Sleeping difficulties
  • Irrational fears
  • Anxiety

The common symptoms include:

  • Keeping to themselves
  • Loss of appetite
  • Excess weight gain or loss
  • Feeling lost, hopeless and helpless
  • Stress over small things
  • Listening to sad music or sad quotes

CAN I TREAT CHILDREN’S DISEASES WITH HOLISTIC HEALTH TREATMENT?

Always discuss your health concerns with a medical professional.

A happy atmosphere, love and care and nutrition and fitness are the cornerstones of children's growth and development.

Give your child a head start on lifelong fitness by encouraging them towards sports and kid-friendly physical activities. Boost their creativity by letting them do what they enjoy- reading, cooking, gardening, dancing, drawing. But remember to encourage activity not by forcing but by setting a good example yourself.

Promote your children's health by encouraging them to eat a variety of foods that should include vegetables, fruits, dairy, meat in order to provide them with essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Teach them the importance of healthy eating from a young age and the impact of unhealthy foods in their system.

Other children's health issues that need to be taken care of include timely vaccines, child safety and social issues.

Do not hesitate to share any concerns you might have about your children's health with our experts as early detection leads to better solutions.
